In the Middle of the Night
Published in Paperback by Walker Books (27 January, 1994)
Authors: Kathy Henderson and Jennifer Eachus
Average review score:

Introduce Your Child to Good Poetry
After years of reading sing-song, and sometimes trite children's poetry to my two children, Henderson's "In the Middle of the Night" was a wonderful surprise. Her poetry is not sing-song, and yet her eloquent verse sings a lullabye that has charmed both the children and the adults in my house. Henderson's observations are at once concise and beautiful, creating a glimpse into the nightlife of office cleaners, bakers, and parents (to name a few) whose reality is powerful. Anyone who wishes to introduce thier children to truly good poetry should give this book a try.

Inclusive Voices in Post-Exilic Judah

Searches for the insight behind every quote
Inclusive Voices In Post-Exilic Judah by Anna L. Grant-Henderson (Lecturer in Old Testament Studies, for the United Church in South Australia, Flinders University) is a close and measured study of Isaiah 56-66, offering a ground breaking interpretation featuring broad-ranging inclusiveness and the possibility that Israel may no longer claim to be the chosen nation of YHWH. Very highly recommended reading, Inclusive Voices in Post-Exilic Judah is a succinctly written, meticulously reasoned, scholarly evaluation that searches for the insight behind every quote.

Introduction to the Study of Experimental Medicine
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (June, 1957)
Authors: Claude Bernard, L. J. Henderson, and Henry C. Greene
Average review score:

The wonderful world of homeostasis
As Bernard puts it: "I think I was the first to urge the belief that animals have really two environments: a milieu extérieur in which the organism is situated, and a milieu intérieur in which the tissue elements live. The living organism does not really exist in the milieu extérieur (the atmosphere it breathes, salt or fresh water if that is the element) but in the liquid milieu intérieur formed by the circulating organic liquid which surrounds and bathes all the tissue elements; this is the lymph or plasma, the liquid part of the blood which, in the higher animals, is diffused through the tissues and forms the ensemble of the intercellular liquids and is the basis of all local nutrition and the common factor of all elementary exchanges. A complex organism should be looked upon as an assemblage of simple organisms which are the anatomical elements that live in the liquid milieu intérieur."

This book is a wonderful book for the biology student or for anyone interested in how medicinal studies and biology "began." Claude Bernard introduces his idea of homeostasis in this book and he explains how and why it works, and how humans, as well as animals, could not live without such an idea.

I recommend reading of this book. It kept me busy for hours and I didn't want to put it down. Five stars for excellence, intelligence, and much much more. Read it for yourself and you be the jugde!

Author: John Henderson

Excellent photo's of the Central Railroad of NJ
This book is dedicated to the operations of the Central Railroad of New Jersey before the Aldene plan took place. All of the Photo's are in color and are some of best quality pictures that I've ever seen. The Book has very little text and it covers mostly the railroads operation in New Jersey, and covers in good detail the cities of Jersey City, Bayonne, Elizabeth and even some of the smaller towns of Sewaren, Barber and Perth Amboy. If you are into the CNJ or railroading or even history, then i would recommend this book.
